Choosing the Right Paint For Your Project: Interior Paint
Once your surface has been properly prepared after priming or sanding, you’re ready for the biggest part of your project: the topcoat. At The Color Store, we offer over 3,500 exclusive Benjamin Moore® colors made from long-lasting and vibrant Gennex® colorants. With five quality interior paint lines, Benjamin Moore® allows us to provide customers with the right coverage for all of their interior projects.

Choosing Your Interior Paint Color
Imagining the final result of your project ensures its success - you should have your desired color in mind before you even start priming. However, if you’re deciding what shade you want or are unsure of what your project needs, consider:
1. Your project
Bright pink can be a quirky burst of color, but be careful of using it for all four walls of a room - it can easily become overwhelming! The color of your project is therefore inherent to not only its success, but your satisfaction. Your room’s color should be a backdrop for its contents; neutral colors like grays, whites, creams, and browns are easy and common choices. If you don’t want to part with that bright flamingo pink, consider using it on an accent wall or on your accent furniture - when choosing your interior paint color, it’s better to start small.
2. Glosses and Sheens
Flat and low luster paints absorb and scatter light, making wall imperfections like cracks, bumps, and divots less noticeable. However, a paint’s ability to reflect light generally correlates with its durability. Semi-gloss and high gloss paints reflect the most light, creating a slick “sheen” that, while highlighting any wall imperfections, makes your walls much easier to clean. As such, semi-gloss and high gloss paints perform well on smooth surfaces exposed to high traffic, like bathroom, kitchen, and entryway walls that are often subject to dirt or other home messes. Use matte, eggshell, satin, and other low sheen paints in rooms that see less traffic.
3. You
Most importantly, your project’s paint should be one you love. It’s beneficial to use color psychology so your color can contribute to the overall comfort of your room. Green’s association with growth and productivity supplies your office or studio with inspiring color. Blue’s calming aura makes it a popular choice for relaxing bedrooms and intimate dining rooms. A romantic, luxurious purple creates inviting living rooms perfect for gathering guests. At The Color Store, our wide selection of paints means you’ll never be at a loss for your ideal color.
