Selecting the colors for your home is often the most challenging part of the design and decoration process. The number of options can often be overwhelming, leaving you staring at six different paint swatches that you swear are the same and your partner swears are unique. At Color Store, we understand how difficult color selection can be. That is why we offer paint consultation services. Our color consultants use color psychology, color theory, and interior design knowledge to help you choose the perfect paint for every room in your home.
Our expert color consultants will get to know you and your home during one of our paint consultations. They are not interior designers, so they aren't looking to change your furniture, countertops, or floors. They are looking at the existing elements in your home to help you find the perfect paint color. By studying your existing decor, the natural and artificial light in your home, and discussing what colors move you, our consultants will help you piece together a paint scheme for every room in your house.
Our color consultations pay specific attention to color psychology. Color psychology is the study of hues and their effect on human behavior. It has been proven that different colors can affect a person's mood, state of mind, and overall disposition. Here are some of the temperaments of common colors.
Smoldering Red 2007-10
Red is never dull. When deep and dark, this color is associated with vigor, courage, rage, and wrath. Lighter reds are associated with feelings of passion, joy, and love. The more brownish reds often invoke the sense of fall and the harvest. Red has also been known to increase your appetite, making the shade an excellent choice for kitchens. It raises the energy of a room and stimulates conversation. Red also makes a solid first impression, making it great as an accent color.
Proposal AF-260
Often considered just a shade of red, pink has its own properties. The shade creates naturally playful, feminine, and warm energy. Pink often represents compassion, nurturing, and love. It creates a feel-good atmosphere. Just keep in mind that pink can quickly become too sweet and sappy.
Venetian Gold 2158-20
Orange is one of the most polarizing colors, and not just for paint. People often love or hate orange. The color is associated with sunshine, joy, enthusiasm, creativity, success, and stimulation. Orange is believed to increase energy levels and is also good for stimulating your appetite. Apricot and terra cotta oranges are also popular because they can be soothing and relaxing. Gold, which is considered part of the orange color family, evokes a feeling of wealth and prestige.
Hawthorne Yellow HC-4
Yellow evokes joy, happiness, and energy. It creates a welcoming atmosphere in hallways and is excellent for kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, and exteriors. Keep in mind that the different shades of yellow can have vastly different effects. We will help you pick a joyful hue during our paint consultations, not one associated with sickness or decay.
Cedar Mountains 706
Green is often considered the most restful color. It is the color of nature, growth, harmony, and freshness. It tends to have a calming effect and makes people feel safe. Green is also incredibly versatile. You could decorate an entire room in different green hues and still have a calming, balanced look.
Breath of Fresh Air 806
It might surprise you to learn that blue is, by far, the most popular interior design color in the United States. This color is considered beneficial to the mind and body and brings down blood pressure and slow heart rate. Deep blues are considered luxurious, and light blues are associated with healing and wisdom. However, blue can make a space feel chilly in rooms without natural light.
Purple Haze 1413
Purple is a dramatic color. It creates a bold statement in any room and is associated with luxury and creativity. It is also interesting to note that about 75% of children will choose purple over any other color, making it an excellent choice for kids' rooms.
